ACOUSTIC KITTY - CIA - 1960's
Microphones, battery packs and antennae were implanted into cats with the aim of directing the feline operatives against Soviet embassies and even the Kremlin. Alleged cost over $25,000,000. First subject cat kia. Project abandoned 1967.

ARTICHOKE - 1951 - 1953
Precursor to MKULTRA, renamed from BLUEBIRD. Hypnosis, forced drug addiction and other methods used to induce amnesia and force subjects to act against their will.

COLDFEET - CIA - 1962
Operation to examine abandoned Soviet Drift Station on the Arctic ice. A USAF Major and a USNR scientist were parachuted onto the ice, then later recovered using the SKYHOOK system, along with valuable Soviet equipment.
CONDOR - CIA - 1975 (Official) - 1980's 
CIA campaign of military aid and technical support for (Anti-Communist) regime change in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. Associated with kidnappings, torture and murder by various regimes.
CHATTER - USN - 1947 - 1953
Research programme to develop drugs to interrogate or recruit enemy agents.

IVY BELLS - USN/CIA/NSA - OCT 1971
An underwater tap placed on the Soviet communications cable in the Sea of Okhotsk. Operation compromised in 1980 by disaffected NSA employee Ronald Pelton. During last year of IVY BELLS Soviets may have used it to feed USA false intelligence.

Warrant-free domestic communications intercepts. 1967 - 1973. Sister program to SHAMROCK.
MKCHICKWIT - DOD/CIA
Research into Drug developments in Europe and Asia. Associated with MKULTRA.
MKDELTA - DOD/CIA 
Project to administer MKULTRA outside the USA.
MKNAOMI - DOD/CIA - 1950's - 1970's
Reportedly sucessor to MKDELTA. Projects included storage of - and diffusion of, biological warfare agents.
MKOFTEN - DOD/CIA
Research into effects of drugs on human and animal subjects.
MKULTRA - CIA - Early 1950's - 1973
Controversial and widely-publicised programme to develop interrogation techniques and drugs using LSD, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, abuse (verbal and sexual) and torture. The lack of consent led to widespread abuses and human rights violations. In one instance, a suicidal man was given LSD and fell to his death from a window thirteen stories high. Renamed MKSEARCH in 1964.

OLYMPIC GAMES - (BELIEVED US/ISRAELI) - 2006
Cyber attack aimed at Iranian Nuclear facility, Natanz. Hostile code caused vital centrifuges to fail. The code escaped onto the internet and has since been renamed 'Stuxnet' by the online community and classified as a worm.

PAPERCLIP - 1945
Nazi scientists were located, interviewed and recruited to return to the USA to continue their work on nuclear weapons, rocketry and jet technology.
PHOENIX - CIA/US SPECIAL FORCES/AUSTRALIAN SAS/ARVN 1965 - 1972
Project PHOENIX was a Vietnamese war effort to disrupt and neutralize the Viet Cong. Targets were abducted, interrogated and either 'turned' or killed. Results considered effective with allegations of Human Rights abuses by South Vietnamese elements.

A domestic operation coordinated under the Domestic Operations Division of the CIA. Intelligence was gathered on US groups that were believed a risk to CIA staff or facilities including student radicals.

SHAMROCK - NSA 
Sister program to MINARET
STORM - 1995
A joint operation with Croatia. During the 1995 Balkans offensive CIA drones based at Zadar on the Adriatic coast spotted for Croat artillery. The NSA supplied Croat SIGINT units with better satellite phone intercept gear.

Post-WWII break of Soviet codes due to use of replicated ONE-TIME PADS. Previously called BRIDE, then DRUG. VENONA proved conclusively that Soviet agents had penetrated the USA at all levels.
