SURVEILLANCE TRAPS
Used in COUNTER SURVEILLANCE; natural features that can be exploited by an operator. These include;
Two-way escalators. Often found in shopping centres, using one then immediately using the other will allow you a good look at possible followers. Best done with a pretence of forgetfulness.
Windows. Shop windows are mirrors, dawdling alone using reflections may help establish the position of possible watchers.
Alleyways
Lifts. Call one. Wait patiently allowing any watcher to close in; if they join you, walk to the stairs at the last minute. If they hold back, use the lift, but come back to another floor then use stairs. It won't fool a professional, but it might draw them out.
Cafes. Park up and order a drink. Who loiters?, who walks past only to be waiting further up the street after the minute or so you linger?.
Public transport. We've all seen the spy jumping from the tube train to the frustration of the watcher. It works; and there are many variations across the range of public transport.
