L-PILL

L-PILL - L (for 'Lethal') pills are issued to agents and officers as a last resort to avoid capture, torture and compromise. WWII pills were made of glass and filled with potassium cyanide. Later, pills were concealed in such everyday items as pens and eyeglasses. The CIA issued U-2 pilots with needles coated in saxitoxin, a shellfish toxin, hidden inside coins.
