SKYHOOK/STARS

SKYHOOK/STARS - (CIA) The Fulton Surface To Air Recovery Systems (STARS), nicknamed SKYHOOK, invented by Robert Fulton, Jnr, compromises a harness linked to a balloon by a line. Once inflated, the balloon serves as a marker for the recovery aircraft, specially modified with a V-shaped yoke to snare the line. Made famous by the James Bond film Thunderball. See Operation COLDFEET.
