BIKINI STATE - (UK/COLD WAR)

UK Military threat alert system in use during Cold War.
Lowest state BIKINI WHITE: Situation stable, no threats detected.
BIKINI BLACK: Possibility of attack, but no specific threat. Also possible civil unrest.
BIKINI BLACK SPECIAL: Increased risk of attack, still no specific threat. Possible terrorist threat.
BIKINI AMBER: Specific threat, risk to government facilities and staff. Also used to signify heightened alert in preparation for war.
BIKINI RED: Specific threat to specific target identified. Also used to signify general war including nuclear war. Replaced by UK THREAT LEVELS in 2006.

BIKINI INDICATORS: Used at Military bases, often in the form of simple plastic signs hung on a notice board.
